The single silky coat has no undercoat, so it copes better than it looks. The habit worth building is drying the coat properly after monsoon walks. Many owners here settle on a short clip through summer, which cuts brushing right down and keeps the skin healthy.

Better with older, gentle children. At two and a half to four kilograms they are genuinely delicate, and rough handling risks injury. They are affectionate and playful with people they know, and suit adult households or calm families.

They are alert and will announce visitors, though generally less persistently than a Pomeranian. Early work on a "quiet" cue keeps it manageable in a flat with shared walls.
